Dr. Maria M. Patarroyo-Aponte is an Associate Professor at the Center for Advanced Heart Failure, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. She serves as the Associate Program Director for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship. Dr. Patarroyo-Aponte earned her M.D. from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, and completed advanced training in cardiology, heart failure, and transplantation at prestigious institutions, including Cleveland Clinic and the University of Minnesota. She holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplantation. With extensive clinical expertise, Dr. Patarroyo-Aponte leads the management of complex cardiovascular cases, mentors fellows and medical students, and contributes to numerous publications in heart failure and cardiology. Her academic focus includes heart transplant, LVAD, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiogenic shock management.
