Raymond M. Yau, MD, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist and Director of the Cardiogenic Shock Program at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He completed his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, followed by an internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He then pursued general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine, with subsequent focus on complex coronary interventions, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support.
Dr. Yau leads the only dedicated cardiogenic shock program in the Southwestern United States, providing regional referral support and multidisciplinary shock care for patients from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona. His work emphasizes protocol-driven care, early shock recognition, and rapid deployment of percutaneous ventricular assist devices and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to improve survival in high‑risk patients. He is actively involved in clinical research and education on building and sustaining cardiogenic shock programs and is passionate about developing a statewide New Mexico Cardiogenic Shock Network to extend advanced shock care to rural and underserved communities
