Dr. Jennifer Thibodeau is a Professor of Medicine, the Associate Director of Clinical Operations for the Division of Cardiology, the Medical Director of Heart Failure and the Medial Director of ECMO at UT Southwestern. She completed her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland and her fellowships in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she also received a Master Degree in Clinical Sciences. She has clinical expertise in patients with advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and ventricular assist devices, and is particularly interested in hemodynamic assessments of symptoms of heart failure and the assessment and prognosis of congestion. She is a clinical researcher with numerous publications, including studies describing a novel symptom of heart failure: bendopnea, or shortness of breath when bending forward, for which she was recognized as a Finalist for the Samuel A. Levine Young Clinical Investigator Award by the American Heart Association in 2012 and a Young Author Achievement Award by the American College of Cardiology in 2015. She has been a member and chair of various committees within the ACC, AHA, and HFSA.
