Finn Gustafsson, MD, PhD, Chief Medical officer, Abbott, earned his medical degree at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where he also later defended his PhD in microvascular physiology. His clinical training in cardiology was completed in Copenhagen and he subsequently trained in advanced HF and transplantation at Toronto General Hospital, ON. In 2009 he took on the role as medical director of the advanced HF, LVAD and transplantation program at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen and in 2018 he became full professor of cardiology at University of Copenhagen. In 2025 he joined Abbott as CMO. He has published more than 500 papers in peer-review journals and has served as editor for several HF journals including Circulation:Heart Failure and European Journal of Heart Failure.
