Alejandro Alcocer Álvarez, fifth-year medical student in the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program at Universidad Marista de Mérida. Throughout his training, he has shown a growing interest in clinical research and in the field of cardiology.
He has completed clinical rotations in services such as Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, and Family Medicine within institutions of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and state-level healthcare facilities. In parallel, he has participated in multiple congresses, symposia, and Cochrane-endorsed journal clubs, where he has presented research projects in both oral and poster formats, addressing topics including interventional cardiology, congenital heart diseases, immunology, and genetics.
In the field of research, he is currently collaborating on projects related to the durability of transcatheter aortic valves, acute complications of diabetes, and the study of Isaacs syndrome. His interest focuses on combining clinical practice with critical appraisal of evidence to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge.
He complements his training with courses and diploma programs in areas such as research methodology, cardiometabolic health, microbiota, endocrinology, and life support, while also maintaining a strong social commitment through community health education activities in rural areas of Yucatán.
His trajectory reflects discipline, scientific curiosity, and a genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the cardiovascular field, with the intention of contributing responsibly to patient care and to evidence-based medical practice.
