RN

Hello! My name is Trisha Hartstack and I have been a nurse for 21 years. I graduated from University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston after receiving my Kinesiology degree from Texas Woman's University Denton in 2000. Most of my nursing career has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specializing in cardiac care. I have also worked as a Case Manager, House Supervisor, and in the Cath Lab. I began my employment at Memorial Hermann Houston Texas Medical Center (TMC) in the Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant ICU April 2022. It has always been my dream to work in a Level I Teaching Hospital at Memorial Hermann TMC for as long as I can remember. My husband and I moved around a lot for his career and when we finally settled back in Texas in 2017, I knew I wanted to work with heart transplant patients. As life would have it, road blocks got in the way. I was diagnosed with Stage 3C Breast Cancer and nursing was put on hold for a bit. Once I recovered, I began working at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands in CVICU until COVID hit. I jumped on the COVID train and took several travel assignments. COVID was winding down and it was time to come back home. It was then that I started working in HFICU. It has been a true pleasure taking care of the sickest patients and it always brings me joy when I recover a heart transplant patient because they are getting a second chance of life. I have learned more than I could ever imagine and I love facing the challenges HFICU brings me. It has been an honor to work alongside some of the best nurses and I have gained a work family like never before.
